Minister of State in the President’s Office (Public Service and Good Governance) George Mkuchika has warned Kigoma Ujiji Municipality to stop communicating with Open Government Partnership (OGP) since the Central Government has withdrawn from the programme.
Asking a supplementary question during Question and Answer session on Monday morning, MP Zitto Kabwe wanted to know if local government authorities can continue working with OGP like Kigoma Ujiji municipality despite central government’s withdrawal.
Responding to Mr Kabwe’s question, Minister Mkuchika said the municipality should stop it immediately otherwise it will be dissolved and put under municipal committee.
He said, despite withdraw from OGP, the country has not experienced any negative impact and told the MPs that because the country is in the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and is fighting against corruption.
