Two held for ‘unlawful prayers’ for Mr Lissu

Dar es Salaam. Police have arrested two people for allegedly hold unlawful assembly at TIP grounds in Sinza to pray for Singida East Member of Parliament Mr Tundu Lissu, who is hospitalized in Nairobi after he was attacked by unknown assailants.

Kinondoni Regional Police Commander, Mr Murilo Jumanne, who was at the ground said the persons were arrested on Sunday morning at around 9:40 AM.
"We are holding them for interrogation in connection to unlawfully assembly,” said he.

He added “we banned the prayers but I wonder why the suspects assembled.”

Last week Chadema Youth Wing (BAVICHA) declared its mission to have prayers for Singida East, MP Mr Tundu Lissu aims to wish him a quick recovery as he is still hospitalized at Nairobi Hospital in Kenya.

However, Dar es Salaam Police Special Zone Commander, Mr Lazaro Mambosasa embargoed the prayer assemblies, said Police will allow no any gathering.

To ensure the security was well tightened, police also directed three wheels motorcyclists famously known as "bajaji" to carry out their business activities a few metres from the grounds.
